1. Copy the report. 2. Edit report. 3. Right click on "Detail 1", click "insert" and then click on GroupHeader/Footer. 4. On the top right of the window click on the plus sign next to "Fields" and then click on the plus sign next to "Bound". 5. Click on "DetailLastName" and hold the mouse bitten down while dragging this over to the left and dropping it under "GroupHeader1. 6. Over on the lower right of the page there will be a field with Appearance listed on top. Look down from there and you will come to a subheading called Data. Under this you will see "DataField". To the right you will see DetailLastName. Here you will add an = immediately in front with no space and then add .Substring(0,1) after with no space. It should look like this: =DetailLastName.Substring(0,1) 7. After this go back to the template on the left and right click on "GroupHeader1". Click on properties. Over on the lower right you will see "Data" highlighted. Use the dropdown to the right of "DataField" and choose DetailLastName. 8. Edit DetailLastName just the same as before. It should look like this: =DetailLastName.Substring(0,1) 9. Two lines down click on "NewPage" and then use the dropdown arrow to choose "Before". 10. Above Data you will then see a heading titled "Behavior". Click on "GroupKeepTogether" and choose "All" from the dropdown choice. 11. Click Save and you should be all set.
