CLMS2PC is a private software product used within the Order to maintain and report membership records. Publically sold software products often do allow the user to decide when it is appropriate to apply updates. Since we are in the private space, it is in our best interest to streamline the operation, avoid errors, misunderstandings so we came up with the approach you are familiar with already.
Since CLMS2PC needs to connect to the update repository and the active database to download software changes and to refresh the membership data from CLMS2WEB each time it is fired up the software and data updates are not optional, but mandatory, asking if it is ok to proceed would be an extra step that most Lodges would prefer to skip.
We learned this from CLMS1 days, less clicking makes for happier Secretarys.
